Selection process

Financial Women of San Francisco’s scholarship committee will select scholarship recipients who:

  • Display a track record of leadership in both academic pursuits and their broader community.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills.
  • Believe in the FWSF mission and want to engage with the broader FWSF community.
  • Establish financial need.

Applicants will have several opportunities to engage with the scholarship selection committee.

  • Electronic application. Candidates must complete the relevant paperwork by March 20, 2025.
  • First interview. Candidates who complete the application by the deadline will be invited to a mandatory personal interview between March 29 and April 16, 2025. These interviews will take place in person at a location convenient to your college or university; remote interviews may be scheduled if circumstances prevent an in-person appointment.
  • Second interview. Candidates who receive high marks based on their application and first interview will be invited to a second interview in San Francisco on April 26, 2025. (Remote interviews may be permitted on a case-by-case basis.) This second interview is mandatory for all finalists.

Scholarship winners will be notified by April 30, 2025.

The Scholarship Awards celebration will be held May 28, 2025 in San Francisco; recipients are required to attend, as well as prepare and deliver a 2-3 minute speech during the event.

Not only do I feel so grateful to have been supported by an FWSF scholarship during my second year of business school at Stanford, but I also have had the privilege of seeing the same, powerful mission at work for young women on the other side of the world.
