Private Luncheon and Tour of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco

July 2013

With Teresa Curran Senior VP and Director, Banking Supervision and Regulation, FRB of San Francisco

A Members Only Event!

At our sold-out Professional Development event, 30 members gathered for a special afternoon at the Federal Reserve.  After socializing during a delicious lunch, former FWSF board member Teresa Curran shared her insights regarding the Fed's mission and direction.  Teresa noted that inflation is projected to remain below 2%, unemployment is projected to continue to decline, the number of banks with “problems” is declining, more banks are profitable, and the housing market has improved.  However, the Fed believes we’re not out of the woods quite yet, and the Fed will continue to take steps to strike the right balance in monetary policy.

Our knowledgeable tour guide—long-time FWSF member Marty Tunnel—then led the group on an informative and interesting 90-minute tour of the vault. Highlights included machines that look for counterfeit currency, a peak into the vault, and the famed world-class currency exhibit of the Reserve that includes examples of coins and bills from colonial days to the present.

This event was so popular that we intend to do it again early in 2014.
